Black Mullet (Mugil cephalus)
AKA: striped mullet, fatback
Prominent features: Striped mullet is bluish gray or green above, shading to silver on the sides with distinct horizontal barrings, and white below. The fins are lightly scaled at base, unscaled above and a second dorsal fin originates behind that of the dorsal fin.
Uses: Utilized as a whole, cut, trolling, chunk or strip bait, mullet are great for shark, tarpon, kings, amberjack, billfish and many other gamefish because of its oily, tough skin.
Black Mullet are available individually wrapped; cut into small chunks for ease of use; and gutted for crab bait.
