AKA: Thread Herring, Greenback, Threads, Hairy Back, Grassy Back
Often confused with the scaled sardine/whitebait/pilchard
Prominent features: Silvery with bluish or greenish back. Last ray of dorsal fin elongated, threadlike.
Most Popular uses: Bottom bait for grouper and snapper; may be freelined for mackerel, kingfish, cobia. Can be used as a cut bait or whole.
Other uses: Makes a very good dark meat chum.
